Previous editions

The first seed was planted in 2011, when the first Meeting of Young Speakers of Minoritised Languages was organised by the Basque Department of the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council. Years later, it was decided to give greater impetus to the initiative and so, in 2018, the second edition was organised under the name HIGA!. The meeting was a success: 75 young people (35 minority languages) came together, there was a lovely atmosphere, new relationships were forged and the institutional participation was also remarkable. The third edition was to be held in 2020, but due to the pandemic it had to wait until 2021, when e-GA was organised in a hybrid format. The Youth Plan of the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council specifies that HIGA! will be organised every two years.

3rd edition: E-GA 2021

The pandemic situation turned HIGA into e-GA. This edition launched the project competition in the field of language cooperation. On the day of the award ceremony, poetry, lectures and music could be enjoyed.

Edition 2: HIGA 2018

After a seven-year break since the first edition, the objective in 2018 was the continuity of the project. That year's edition was a success, new relationships were forged and the first collaborative projects germinated, increasing institutional participation.
